As swiss type lathes had no system for automatic change of inserts available on the market, Martin Krieger, the experienced tool-maker and founder of the heimatec company, developed his own tool on the spot. He applied for its utility model protection immediately. This was in 1987 and the birth of the heimatec business. Only two years later came the initial production of a specialist radial milling head.
1998 marked a decisive milestone in the company’s history, as heimatec was the first business in the world to develop a quick-change system for driven tools.
